Located on Highway 58, southeast of Eugene, Oakridge and Westfir are close to some of Oregon´s best recreational spots. No matter what sport you're into, chances are you'll find it somewhere around here. For those who love camping you´re just minutes away the campgrounds of the Willamette National Forest. Prefer fishing? Some of the best trout fishing can be found on the Middle Fork of the Willamette River which flows right by Oakridge on its way down to the Willamette Valley floor. More excellent fishing and boating can be enjoyed on nearby mountain river, lakes and reservoirs.

There are nearly 500 miles of trails for every kind of outdoor recreation including hiking, biking, birding, hunting, cross county skiing, and equestrian activities. If you like to recreate with a motor we have special motorcycle and snowmobile trails. And, as if all the above isn't enough, there is a ski area only 30 miles to the east.

Mountain biking deserves special mention in our area, as there are a number of annual events dedicated to this growing sport. From beginner to extremely advanced, you'll find your epic ride here in the Oakridge/Westfir Area.

Futhermore, Oakridge has exceptional weather in which to enjoy all this variety. Around here, locals will tell you, we are, "above the fog and below the snow." Ripley of "Believe It Or Not" fame said that the sun shines at least once a day in Oakridge!

Be sure to pick up one of our visitor maps as soon as you get in town from the, Information Center at the Green Waters Park rest area, or from one of our chamber members.

But Oakridge/Westfir is not just about sports. The city has excellent schools, exceeding "No Child Left Behind" standards; and the high school was recently named as one of the best in the nation by U.S. News and World Report.

And real estate is a bargain. Mountain scenic views and riverfront locations are surprisingly affordable! Because Oakridge and Westfir are surrounded by National Forest lands, the towns can never grow too big. Real estate values are rising and will generally increase as we are discovered by more families seeking a beautiful place to live, do business, and recreate.

We are also very business friendly. Oakridge Industrial Park is not only remarkably affordable but offers incentives such as Enterprise Zone status for businesses that want to create manufacturing and other well-paying jobs. New to the area? The City of Oakridge can help you get a handle on what support services are available. We have a willing workforce, excellent location near a major east-west state highway and Union Pacific Railroad lines, and available land in the Oakridge Industrial Park for as little as $35,000 an acre.
